I've been eager to get my hands Kesh x American Apparel the moment I heard that the collaboration was in the works. Kesh's signature bold lines of black and white fit absolutely perfect into the achromatic color trend of summer. We all know, as slaves to style, that fashion is art we were, expression we dress up in--this collection literally is. Each piece was made to make a statement, but is comfortable enough to casually lounge around the house. Today, I decided to rock my favorite item from the whole collection: this comfy, cotton tank dress.
I usually shy away from bold pattern dresses or pants (printed leggings are my arch nemesis), because I always feel uncomfortable drawing any attention to my hips. Even in the midst of my headstrong body positivity, I can sometimes find myself trapped in that weird cloud of self-doubt that can creep up whenever you happen to pass a mirror. It's a tough thing to overcome, willing yourself to step outside of the comfort zone, wearing something you normally wouldn't. The beautiful thing about style is that it doesn't matter what you put on as long as you have the confidence to do. With that in mind, while locked away inside the dressing room at American Apparel, I made the decision to forgo my anxiety and buy the dress.
The moral of the story is:
Wear what you want, wear it how you want, be confident in the face of self-doubt, because you're beautiful, you're awesome, you're sexy, you're cool, you're fabulous, you're lovely, you're rad.
Dress: Kesh x American Apparel // Top: Clumsy Catz// Shoes: Deena & Ozzy// Sunnies: Thrift
With new confidence in tow, I decided to layer my dress with a mesh crop top. I love breaking up the look of the dress with a fun peek-a-boo accent. Mesh and jersey are another thing I simply can not get enough of this season. On my feet, I've got these really awesome Deena & Ozzy wedge sandals that have probably become my favorite pair of shoes. I've worn them just about everyday since I got them and they're so comfortable, it's crazy. I felt like I was channeling the 90s today, but I won't bore you with another bout of nostalgia, ha.
